Categories and Competition Requirements

View the different required categories, optional categories and age ranges for all preliminary pageants. Royal Miss Florida is interested in the personality and poise of all contestants. Natural beauty is encouraged.

Judging will be based on real modeling and acting industry standards.

Party Dress/ Evening Wear

This is the chance to show off your beauty and gracefulness. Beauty Dresses
should not be full glitz. Stoning is allowed, but don’t outshine the girl. Its best to
send in a picture to the national office and get it approved. Strapless is only
allowed on Jr. Teen and up. (13 +) No makeup on Infants and Babies. Light blush,
No color Lip Gloss and tipped mascara on tiny. Light Foundation, blush, No color
Lip Gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color Lip Gloss and mascara
on Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.
Infant-Little should be knee length or shorter, but should not be shorter than
fingertips. Junior should be Tee Length or shorter but should not be shorter than
fingertips. Jr. Teen + should be floor length.

Interview/ Playtime

Interview- all age divisions will compete in Interview. Infant – Tiny will compete in
Play time. Play Time is a chance for the younger girls to interact, there will be toys
etc. They will be judged on interaction, kindness, beauty, and personality. Parents
will be asked questions. In Infant and Baby age divisions the contestants will not
be allowed to speak, the chaperones will be asked the questions. Mini + will
compete in interview. They will go in un-chaperoned and will be asked to come to
the X. They should stand in pretty feet. They will be asked a series of questions.
(Remember: “I don’t know” is not a good answer) Contestants 12 and under
should not wear suits for interview. Nice Sunday best dresses or slightly dressier
are recommended, think of traditional girls clothing when picking out interview
clothing. No makeup on Infants and Babies. Light foundation, blush, no color lip
gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color lip gloss and mascara on
Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.

Street wear is your chance to show your personality! Anything that describes who you are will be accepted. (i.e. If you are a girly girl, petti skirt with lots of bling. If you are a tom girl, jeans and your favorite jersey will work. If you are classy, a cute Capri outfit. If you are funky, a tutu kind of out fit.) Have fun, no midriffs, keep it age appropriate. Any skirts 4” or less must have leggings or something that comes more than 4”s or closer to your knee. While modeling, there will be a queen with the microphone, you will announce your name, age, where you’re from, and tell a little bit about yourself. Light Foundation, blush, no color lip gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color lip gloss and mascara on Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.

Optionals

Optional Talent
Optional Talent is an optional category for contestants with talents that they would like to showcase and compete for the prestigious Local Talent Title. Talent performances must not go over the 2:30 minute time limit. Talents must be age appropriate and be entertaining to the audience. Although we are a natural
pageant, and usually don’t accept midriffs, etc, talent is different. All styles of clothing are acceptable, as different talents require different clothing. Accompany music must be on a CD or mp3 file with only one song. Talent winners will receive the Local Talent Round Crown, and official RM award and Fees off their State Fees. Talent Title Holders will be invited to perform and showcase their talent throughout the year at RM preliminary pageants. She will be invited to attend all Royalty Trips and events. She will also be spotlighted throughout the year on different occasions.

 

Photogenic

Enter the Photogenic category for an opportunity to be crowned Photogenic Miss in your age division. All photos must be e mailed into the director's office one week prior to the pageant. Absolutely no exceptions!
If your photogenic entry is not in the office by that date your photo will not be considered for the Photogenic Competition. Photos must be a jpeg format. All photos must be natural looking photos without being heavily photoshop. Photogenic entry fees must be sent in and paid in full when entry is received. Photogenic winners will receive a Crown, and other exciting RM awards, including having your winning photo displayed throughout the pageant event. The Photogenic entries will be featured in our program book and the winners photos will be framed and featured at future RM Florida events and activities. You may enter more than one entry in the photogenic competition. All photos must have a label with the contestants name and age on the back. Photogenic is judged by the pageant judges. 

 

Cover Model and Photo Model

is another great way to show off your photogenic capabilities. The Cover Model and Photo Model will be chosen before the Local Prelim and featured in the Pageant Program book. Both the Cover and Photo Model winners will receive a beautiful award and fees off of their Entry to the State Pageant The Cover Model will be chosen from photographs entered in to the Cover Model competition. All photos must be jepg format and black and white. Cover Model photos also must be a waist up photo or headshot of the contestant.

Photo Model can be full length, 3/4, or headshots. Photogenic capabilities are needed to take a great photo, but a natural pose and appearance are  what the judges are looking for, in the Cover Model  and Photo Model Winners. We want to see what you look like in PRINT. The Local Cover Model Winner and Photo Model will be used in upcoming advertising and on our website during the pageant year, and in the years to come. Write the category in the subject line and e mail the files as attachments to the Director two weeks prior to the pageant event. Cover and Photo Model photos will be judged by five professional photographers. Scores will be available following the pageant.
